Investment Highlight: Superorganism

The first-ever biodiversity-focused VC fund, Superorganism has a unique approach to combating climate change and improving planetary health.  Investments are focused in three key areas: solutions to biodiversity loss drivers; the overlap of biodiversity and climate; and technologies enabling biodiversity protection.  

Launched in 2023, they have built a pre-seed and seed-stage portfolio of biodiversity-positive startups addressing real-world challenges. Notable portfolio companies include Inversa, which repurposes invasive lionfish into luxury leather while funding invasive species removal; Funga, which works to rewild soil fungal ecosystems for healthier forests; and Amini, which provides environmental data infrastructure across Africa.

Beyond their direct financing, Superorganism also donates 10% of profits to fund ongoing conservation efforts.
